On September 22, 2018, I'm going Over The Edge (rappelling down 345 feet of the Plaza Towers in Grand Rapids, Michigan) for Easterseals Michigan programs and services!

I'm hoping you will be able to support me as I fundraise for this incredible organization. I've worked at Easterseals as a Behavioral Health Clinician for children and families for just over 2 years. Those two years have changed my life.

You may be asking why...why would I choose to rappel down a building when I am TERRIFIED of heights? When it comes down to it, the answer is simple. The children and families I see every day inspire me. The strength, courage, and resiliency I witness in these children is truly astounding. Two years ago I started working with a boy who had endured physical and emotional abuse as well as domestic violence. For three months, this boy would come for his weekly hour long session, but while in my office wouldn't speak to me, wouldn't make eye contact and was visibly uncomfortable. Fast forward, and in those two years with the amazing programs and staff at Easterseals, he and his family have made monumental strides. I recently was walking down the hallway and heard genuine squeals of laughter from inside a room where he was playing with another young boy. I believe this never would have happened without the support of Easterseals.

Another young male who had serious behavioral problems at home and school told me that he liked coming to Easterseals for therapy because, "When I'm at home and out there (in the world) and I feel like no one cares about me, I come here and I know that people care about me. It gives me hope."

My goal is to fundraise at least $1,500, but I would love to surpass that goal! With your help, I know that I can do just that.

For nearly a century, Easterseals Michigan (ESM) has empowered extraordinary individuals to live more independent lives. Their story has evolved over time, but their purpose remains the same - Easter Seals Michigan serves and supports people with disabilities or special needs and their families so they can successfully live, learn, work and play in their communities.

Last year alone, ESM helped more than 11,000 people throughout the state of Michigan, and many of those could be your neighbors or friends. Easterseals programs and services touch many in our community, so thank you for your support!

All of the donations that I receive are going to support Easterseals Michigan programs and Services. Easterseals Michigan is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. More information can be found at www.eastersealsmichigan.com

Thank you for your generous support! See you at the bottom!

P.S.: If you know anyone who you think would like to help me reach my fundraising goal in this event, please share my page with them!
